Lone runner on the beach -how many others also watch from
balconies as
he makes his way
to somewhere south on sand packed hard
by countless feet and tires.
Joined in draw to edge of world
where salty frothy liquid kisses land,
birds congregate, humans soak up
sun and serenity,
purchase tacky trinkets
to take back to what they've settled
for in other climes,
but they'll be back.
In water we began,
to water we return
as often as we can.
