Haiku, Quadrupled in Size

Last Friday's road trip,
even with the heat and fumes,
was more fun than this.

Changed plans, stress, turmoil:
the list grows as I close my
eyes, and remember.

This reality
that I choose for today
paves the way for Soon.

Another visit
to alternate dimensions
                                                         where peace is the norm.

(c) Ellen Gillette, 2012

Some days, the joys of the past and the hope of the future makes the present so much more manageable and tolerable. A really talented poet might say all that in one haiku, but it took me four.
