Mona

My Mona Lisa t-shirt, from a
painting by the late, great Blaine Hall.
Mona Lisa didn't show up for
her sitting sporting curlers,
probably, but how can we
be sure? An artist paints just what
he wants and what he sees (which
may not be what I would see at all)
or how another artist would interpret
current versions of reality who
sit there looking smug. Before
the lie of PhotoShop or putting
other heads on thinner bodies to
create the magazines we read as
gospel truth, it was the artist's eye
that people trusted to be right.
