Free Advice

My generation watched
"Captain Kangaroo" which
featured, among other delightful
characters, Grandfather Clock.
Twenty-four hours in a day,
we bet that we will make it to
the next, expect to wake up
in the morning, take the very
breath within our lungs right
now for granted, wasting
time we'll never see again,
just idling, treading water.
in a holding pattern waiting for
our life to start, as if this isn't
it at all, but what we're putting
up with until everything else
falls in place and finally we're
living to the fullest. Be present,
savor now, instead of living for
a future or regretting all the past.
